Our Living Languages: First People’s Voices in BC
Learn what First Nations communities throughout the province are doing to help 34 different languages survive and flourish, in Our Living Languages: First Peoples’ Voices in BC, a beautifully designed exhibition from the Royal BC Museum and First Peoples’ Cultural Council that celebrates the resilience and diversity of Indigenous languages in the face of change.
Through interactive stations, video and audio, the exhibit provides visitors with the opportunity to learn more about the history of disrupted languages in BC, the complexity of these languages, and the people–and entire communities–that are working tirelessly to document and revitalize them.

The Vernon Folk Roots Music Society present James Keelaghan, Canada’s finest singer-songwriter, and Jez Lowe, the UK’s busiest folk and acoustic performer. They join forces for a special evening of artistic collaboration at The Vernon Jazz Club.
James Keelaghan is an artist who has proven to be a man for all seasons. For almost a quarter of a century now, this poet laureate of the folk and roots music world has gone about his work with a combination of passion, intent and curiosity. Fusing his insatiable appetite for finding the next unique storyline, Keelaghan also forges his music with brilliantly defined craftsmanship and a monogrammed artistic vision, making him one of the most distinctive and readily identifiable voices of the international singer-songwriter community.
Over the past four decades, Jez Lowe has performed for audiences around the world, either accompanying himself on guitar, harmonica, cittern or mandolin, or with his long-time band, The Bad Pennies. Acknowledged as a national treasure on the UK folk circuit and beyond, his songs are among the most widely recorded by other performers.
