CALLING ALL ARTISTS!

RAIL TRAIL PLEIN AIR EVENT

The Arts Council of the North Okanagan presents the Okanagan Rail Trail Plein Air Event – Sunday, June 8th,  9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Paint outdoors & explore nature with your brush in hand! Starting at KM 0 of the beautiful Okanagan Rail Trail in Vernon and extending into Lake Country, artists will explore the trail and seek out a spot to paint for the day. This event is free and open to all ages and abilities.

Prizes will be awarded in 4 groups: Experienced Artists, Emerging Artists, Youth Artists, and People’s Choice.
Bring your own art supplies and materials and get ready for a day of plein air fun!!

At the end of the day, artists will gather at Civic Memorial Park for live music, art jurying, prizes, and some light refreshments. Bring a chair and relax in the park!

Complete early registration online HERE. You can register yourself and up to 4 additional participants. Registrants will receive a detailed information package two weeks prior to the event.

EVENT SCHEDULE:
9:00 to 2:00 – Registered artists can proceed to the Rail Trail and choose their spot to paint. Have fun painting!
3:00 – Artwork brought to Civic Memorial Park for jurying.  Live music, artist mingle & light refreshments served.
3:45 – 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Prizes awarded for Experienced Artists, Emerging Artists, and Youth Artists.

The cut-off time for artists to drop off their artwork in Civic Memorial Park is 3:00.

Live music, snacks and drinks in Civic Memorial Park from 3:00 to 5:00.

The People’s Choice Award will be announced online on June 21st.

*We strongly advise registering for this event. There will not be a registration table on the day of the event.

En Plein Air Artists – Capture the natural beauty of Polson Park. Let your creativity flow as you paint outdoors and share your artistic process with festival-goers.

Performers – From musicians and dancers to theater groups and spoken word artists, we are seeking performers to grace our stages and entertain our diverse audience. Show us your talent and be a part of this vibrant cultural exchange.

Local Organizations – Whether you represent a nonprofit, a community group, or a cultural organization, we want to showcase your efforts. Join us in promoting your cause and connecting with our community.

YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Join Our Youth Advisory Committee!

Are you passionate about arts, culture, and making a difference in your community? We are inviting creative, curious, and community-minded youth to apply for the Youth Advisory Committee— a space where your voice matters and your ideas can shape the future of arts and culture in our region.

As a member, you’ll help guide youth-focused programming, share input on upcoming events, and collaborate with artists, leaders, and fellow changemakers. Whether you love music, visual arts, performance, storytelling, or cultural traditions -there’s a place for you at the table.

This is a chance to:
• Have your voice heard
• Develop leadership and teamwork skills
• Connect with other passionate youth
• Be part of exciting cultural projects and events

We’re looking for youth ages 15 to 30 from all backgrounds and experience levels to meet bi-monthly (5-6 times a year) at the Vernon Community Arts Centre. No formal arts experience needed, just a passion for creativity and community.
