Join us at the 2nd Annual Sundog Festival of Arts and Culture!

The Arts Council of the North Okanagan is thrilled to invite you to participate in this vibrant celebration of creativity and community spirit, held at the beautiful Polson Park on September 20th and 21st.

Who We are Inviting to join us:

En Plein Air Artists – Capture the natural beauty of Polson Park. Let your creativity flow as you paint outdoors and share your artistic process with festival-goers.

Performers – From musicians and dancers to theater groups and spoken word artists, we are seeking performers to grace our stages and entertain our diverse audience. Show us your talent and be a part of this vibrant cultural exchange.

Local Organizations – Whether you represent a nonprofit, a community group, or a cultural organization, we want to showcase your efforts. Join us in promoting your cause and connecting with our community.

Why Participate? The Sundog Festival attracts a wide audience, providing you with an excellent platform to showcase your work and reach new fans and supporters. Be a part of a festival that celebrates local talent and fosters community spirit. By participating, you contribute to the growth and appreciation of arts and culture in our community.

Saturday, July 27th, 2024 – 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm – SILVER STAR

Submissions due by July 2th at midnight.

Ready to showcase your creative talents and compete in an exciting, high-energy art competition? Whether you’re an experienced professional or an emerging artist, this is your chance to shine, connect with fellow artists, and let your creativity soar.

The Arts Council of the North Okanagan and Destination Silver Star proudly present the first annual Okanagan Art Showdown: Summer Art Series at Silver Star. This exciting event brings together creativity, competition, and community spirit.

  • Watch three talented artists create captivating artworks right before your eyes.
  • Witness their creative process and be inspired!
  • Whether you’re an established artist or just starting out, this is your chance to shine.
  • Compete in a friendly yet spirited showdown.
  • Connect with fellow artists, art lovers, and enthusiasts.

ARTISTS – please click on the REGISTER button at the bottom of this post to register an an artist. Three artists will be juried in for this event.

Silver Star Saturday Music Series: Enjoy a free concert with Norsu, Hot Sax and The Boom Booms at the Nokian Community Stage from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Sign up as an artist or simply join us as a spectator! Stay for the music, mingle with fellow art lovers, and celebrate creativity!

CALL TO ARTISTS

The Arts Council of the North Okanagan and Destination Silver Star present the Silver Star Plein Air Event on Saturday, August 10th, 2024

All artists must bring their own materials and can work in any medium or size. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category: Experienced Artists, Emerging Artists, and Youth Artists. People’s Choice will be awarded through a social media poll until August 21st.

We kindly ask you to preregister – there are only 20 spots available. Registration will close on August 3rd, 2024 at midnight.

EVENT SCHEDULE
11:30am – Registered artists can choose a spot and get set up.
12:00pm – Artists start painting. Good luck to everyone!
4:00pm – All artists must finish painting.
4:00pm – 5:00pm – Judging for awards.
5:00pm – 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Prizes awarded for Experienced Artists, Emerging Artists, and Youth Artists.

Live music Nokian Community Stage from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. The People’s Choice Award will be announced online on August 21st.

  • Meeting once per month
  • Board experience preferred

DIRECTORS AT LARGE
3 positions available

  • Participate on board committees, contribute to events, and receive mentoring from the Board Executive and Committee Chairs.
  • Hold a non-voting position on the ACNO Board of Directors.
  • A person in this position may possess knowledge in finance, human resources, fund development, or public relations.
  • Initially serve a one-year term to facilitate a thorough orientation to ACNO’s role, purpose, and mandate.
  • Board will assess the suitability of the Director at Large before considering them for appointment to any vacant board position at the end of their first-year term.
