“A deep dive into the world of the coloratura soprano” - with a journey that begins in the opera realm and carries on through English art song, Viennese operetta, standard and contemporary musical theatre, comedic classics, Hebrew folklore and much more. “Sailing the High C’s” will feature selections from The Marriage of Figaro, The Tales of Hoffmann, The Merry Widow, The Enchantress, Phantom of the Opera, My Fair Lady and Young Frankenstein, to name a few. With songs in English, Spanish, Italian, French, German, Yiddish and Hebrew, and compositions from Lehar to Lerner & Loewe and from Mozart to Mel Brooks, this vocal event will be a diverse and memorable musical ride infused with humor and high notes!

String Jazz in mixed genres with the WW&F jazz trio, Guest singer Karen Wiseman. Wood, Wire & Fire is a string jazz group founded by bassist Darko Cuk with violinist Denis Letourneau and guitarist Gil Kafka. Their sound is rich, decadent and layered like a perfect pastry from a French Café. Classic swing mixed with choice modern selections, their set is fluid and smooth with an energy that is feel-good and soul driven. They have been playing around the Okanagan together since 2016.

Some of Canada’s best improvisational comedians take on your suggestions and create spontaneous comedy sketches right before your eyes. The show is a fun, variety filled, high energy comedy experience where these comedic 10's are dressed to the nines!

Travel back in time to when sternwheelers plied the waters of Okanagan Lake with the Okanagan Landing Stationhouse Museum!

This satellite of the Greater Vernon Museum and Archives celebrates the history of the area, and houses an amazing 21'x4' scale model depicting the Okanagan Landing in 1914, when sternwheelers provided the only transportation from Vernon to Penticton.

The museum at Paddlewheel Park is open for the summer Fridays to Sundays from 11 am to 3 pm. Admission is by donation. For off season or out-of-hours guided group tours, please call 250-542-2500.

The medieval repertoire offered in this programme by Duo Laude (Elizabeth MacIsaac, soprano, Pat Unruh, viola da gamba) includes works selected for their diversity and beauty, a mix of sacred and secular melodies including the soaring sequence O Viridissima Virga (O greenest branch) by the 12th. Century mystic Hildegard von Bingen, voluptuous dance songs by the French poet Guillaume de Machaut, hymns to the Virgin from the South of France and a 13th. Century motet in the voice of a young coquette who knows her lover is watching her.

The pilgrim songs from the Llibre Vermell reveal that, for simple folk, the spiritual and the profane joined together, this is how the faithful to Notre Dame de Montserrat sang their prayers in Catalan and in Latin to the sound of engaging melodies.

The programming also draws upon some of the more ancient medieval sources, from which the Cunctipotens Genitor is selected. It is based upon a Kyrie trope originating in Aquitania.

This year is all about bridging the gap between the gallery and public interaction while helping upcoming artists get noticed. The theme is “Neon Gardens” through the creation of immersive environments. Introducing the public to unfamiliar spaces while displaying the ways in which technology impacts surrounding landscapes.
