Get inspired by artist Coralee Miller, who’s exhibition: Hidden Spirits will be on view when VINO with VPAG takes place. Coralee will take us through, step-by-step to complete a 11 x 14” painting in one evening. This workshop is perfect for beginners, who will learn the basics of acrylic painting while sipping on some delicious local wines. Bring your paint clothes and enjoy a fun evening with friends. Take home your masterpiece at the end of the experience, maybe even with some new artistic skills you didn’t know you had! Okanagan Symphony Orchestra presents "MUSICAL SIBLINGS" at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre on February 13th. Making music with family members – both literal and honorary – is one of life’s great joys. Fanny Mendelssohn composed side by side with her brother Felix, while in his time, Joseph Bologne was venerated alongside his musical kin, Mozart. Okanagan Woodcarvers – Weekly Group

Meet the Okanagan Woodcarvers! Established in 1995, the North Okanagan Woodcarvers are made up of a group of over 40 local carving enthusiasts. The Carver’s skills range from beginner to advanced, and they meet regularly to share ideas, learn from one another, and socialize in a relaxed and casual setting.

Meetings occur every Tuesday between 1:00 and 4:00pm at the Vernon Community Arts Centre, from January to May, and September to November.

Learn + Connect: Understanding UNDRIP with Chief Byron Louis

As outlined in the Truth and Reconciliation Final Report, UNDRIP (United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples) provides the necessary principles, norms, and standards for reconciliation to flourish in twenty-first-century Canada. And while the declaration clearly establishes a universal framework of minimum standards for the survival, dignity and well-being of Indigenous Peoples, Canada was one of the last to countries to adopt it. During this session, OKIB Chief Byron Louis will explore the history of UNDRIP, the impacts locally, provincially and nationally and what the adoption of the declaration means moving forward. A question period will follow and participants are invited to ask questions in the spirit of increasing their knowledge and better understanding the rights of Indigenous Peoples.
