Karen Wiseman Quintet

Vernon based jazz vocalist, Karen Wiseman is known for her velvety tones, attention to phrasing, and an inordinate love of the old standards.

From a choral tradition to jazz ensembles and a solo career, Karen draws influences from greats like Peggy Lee and Julie London. Expect old swing classics, soulful ballads, Latin jazz, re-imagined Broadway / pop tunes and some of the lesser-known gems of the jazz tradition

For this performance at the Vernon Jazz Club, Karen is joined by Chris Harwood-Jones on bass, Greg Baturin on drums, Neville Bowman on piano, and Sean Bray on guitar.

Canadian Federation Of University Women Vernon Monthly Meeting

Schubert Centre 3505 30th Avenue, Vernon, British Columbia, Canada

Keli Westgate of Salmon Arm will speak about eco-friendly landscapes and permaculture design. After the presentation, the club will hold its business meeting.

The FCUW hold monthly general meetings on the third Monday of every month from 10:30 am until noon unless the date is a statutory holiday.  In this case, the meeting will be re-scheduled

monthly meetings provide an opportunity for members to socialize with other members, further their own learning through informative speakers, and participate in club business.  A simple buffet lunch is served at the end of the meeting for a reasonable fee.

Rob Dinwoodie is known for his ability to capture a historical event or character of the west in a song. For the last six years, he has produced the Cowboy Dinner Show at O’Keefe Ranch, which promotes the B.C. West and its history. Rob Dinwoodie is known for his love of the cowboy lifestyle, and that spills over into his song writing, music and entertaining. 

Blu & Kelly Hopkins are an award winning, songwriting, multi instrumentalist acoustic duo. The couple are a bona fide channel for Classic and Contemporary Folk/Roots music. Focusing on original material their extensive repertoire lets them blend traditional and contemporary tunes into their show, with a dash of humour, to achieve an entertaining, exciting yet mellow brew of good times, good tunes. Kelly’s warm harmonies combine nicely with Blu’s smoky baritone voice for a wonderful relaxed sound.

Charismatic, engaging and humorous, Blu & Kelly Hopkins and their brand of “Organic Acoustic Music” are winning new fans and charming audiences wherever they play.

Hailing from a line of chiefs from North Tall Cree Reserve on her father’s side and a line of strong Mennonite homesteaders on her mother’s, Dersken braids the traditional and contemporary, weaving her classical background and her Indigenous ancestry together with new school electronics to create genre-defying music.
