Judy Hamilton

Judy is a self-taught artist and works primarily in alcohol ink. She had planned on exhibiting her work in the spring of 2020 when the pandemic hit. Subsequently she has exhibited her work online with Langley Arts Council, Lake Country Art Gallery and Penticton Art Gallery.

Judy creates alcohol ink abstract art in various sizes which have been sold as greeting cards and framed as paintings. She is deeply inspired by the colours, textures, flow and movement of nature in the Okanagan Valley. This has inspired Judy to work in alcohol ink due to the vibrant and vivid colours of the ink and the way it flows over paper with the certainty of magic. She is reminded of nature in each stroke or pour which is what led to abstracts, encouraging her sense of wonder and imagination. She manipulates the flow of the ink by various means to create and build values. Unexpected shapes and textures can appear, perhaps subconsciously, which enhances the excitement and wonder of this medium. As an emerging Artist, Judy is excited to build on this process.
