The Vernon Folk-Roots Society presents Rube & Rake!

Often described as a darker Simon and Garfunkel, Rube & Rake’s performances engage audiences with a mixture of stories, intricate guitar work, and rich vocal harmonies.

Winners of the 2022 East Cost Music Award Songwriter of the Year Rube & Rake deliver folk songs with sparse and beautiful harmonies. Their music is an exercise in creating something beyond the sum of their parts. Based out of St. John’s, NL, Sandu and Andrew Laite have always maximized the duo configuration—even singing together at a single condenser microphone, allowing for space and patience within the songs. The result evokes Blue Rodeo at its most rollicking, Great Lake Swimmers at their most thoughtful, and The Tallest Man On Earth at their most gently contemplative.
