Celebrate the Summer Solstice and National Indigenous Peoples Day at the Allan Brooks Nature Centre.

Join us for a vibrant celebration of the Summer Solstice, presented in partnership with Silver Star Rotary. This special event falls on National Indigenous Peoples Day, offering a unique opportunity to honour the changing seasons and Indigenous traditions.

Special Guest Speaker: Brian Thomas Isaac

BBQ: Starting at 6:00 PM, indulge in delicious offerings from the Barbeque provided by Silver Star Rotary Club, featuring mouthwatering options such as Burgers, Veggie Burgers, and Frankfurters. Plus, sweet treats, courtesy of Sweet Caroline’s, will also be available.

Don’t miss out on this fantastic evening filled with food, fun, and fellowship! Brian Thomas Isaac, born on the Okanagan Indian Reserve near Vernon, BC, will read an excerpt from his book at 7:00 PM. Join us as he shares insights on Indigenous culture and traditions.

Brian is a celebrated author, known for his national bestseller, “All the Quiet Places,” winner of the 2022 Indigenous Voices Award. He has been recognized as a finalist for prestigious awards such as the Governor General’s Award and the Amazon Canada First Novel Award.
