Chris Startup was born in Vancouver and has been a freelance musician playing saxophones, clarinet and flute for the past 43 years. Chris relocated to Vernon in September and is now excited to be part of the Okanagan musical community. Chris has worked in a variety of jazz ensembles, big bands and pit orchestras (local and touring) and frequently performs with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Career highlights include performances with Ian McDougall, Kenny Wheeler, The Temptations, Hugh Fraser, Dee Daniels, Ray Charles, Mel Torme, The Four Tops, Phil Woods, Maynard Ferguson, Denzal Sinclaire, Clark Terry, Gladys Knight, Frankie Valli, Jim Byrnes, Bernadette Peters and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.
