Live Artist Plein Air Event
Allan Brooks Nature Centre 250 Allan Brooks Way, Vernon, British Columbia, CanadaThe Allan Brooks Nature Centre BC Culture Days event invites painters and artists to come to the centre and paint “en plain air” (denoting or in the manner of a 19th-century style of painting outdoors), with a chance to win prizes in one of four categories: Experienced, Emerging, Youth and People’s Choice! This event will engage the local and provincial community and create awareness of the artists working in the North Okanagan, as well as highlight the incredible beauty of this endangered grassland habitat.
VPAG Crit Club
Vernon Public Art Gallery 3228 31st Avenue, Vernon, British Columbia, CanadaVernon Critique Club is a high school after school program committed to create a safe and caring environment for students to share their artwork with their peers.
Each third Thursday of the month, students will bring in a piece of art that is in process or complete, and receive a open discussion critique on their work by the group. Each critique session will also have a guest host who works within the art industry to speak about their experiences and offer their own critiques of the students artworks.

Zaniac Comedy Show
Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre 3800 - 33rd Street, Vernon, British Columbia, CanadaHe’s baaaaack...! With the energy of ten thousand suns, The Zaniac shines like a comedy beacon as he bounces from one end of the stage to the other like an untamed rubber band. Jaws will drop and eyes will pop as Alex juggles bowling balls, giant knives, and slices vegetables in half with a flying playing card.
The “Professional Zaniac,” who’s been cracking jokes onstage for almost 15 years, zigzags between physical stunts and non-stop comedy. During the show vegetables are sliced in half by flying playing cards, flaming torches and bowling balls are juggled with ease and every audience volunteer leaves the stage in triumph.

We invite parents and guardians to bring their little ones under the age of 5 to explore art-making with non-toxic materials in this fun and social program that encourages creative self-expression while developing fine and gross motor skills and sensory awareness. Make sure you dress for the mess as all are invited to join in on the fun! Parents must accompany children for the duration of the session and admission is by donation.
