Known for her powerful voice and soulful delivery, Laurie Kerr writes songs that move people. She describes her brand of Americana as “somewhere between Bonnie Raitt and Tom Petty,” and says her influences come from all over the place. “I like songs that say something...and melodies that pull me in.” Bobby Cameron toured North America with Long John Baldry, and has also shared the stage with Chris De Burg, Colin James, Lee Roy Parnell, Burton Cummings, Big Sugar, Loverboy, April Wine, The Kentucky Headhunters, and—on one surprising occasion—with members of The Rolling Stones.

A Visual Journey
Vernon Public Art Gallery 3228 31st Avenue, Vernon, British Columbia, CanadaThe Mackie Lake House was joined by Artist in Residence Doris Charest for much of September. This is an annual program held at Mackie Lake House, during which time we offer the house as a space for artists to undergo an intensive art-making process. We are proud to partner with the Vernon Public Art Gallery, giving each artist the chance to exhibit their work at VPAG in a solo show.
Doris opened her exhibition on October 5. A Visual Journey will remain on view at the VPAG until December 20, 2023.

Laurie spent 19 years in Nashville as a songwriter. Since then, she’s brought a phenomenon back to Canada with her—the Nashville Living Room. Guests at a house party would pass a guitar around to debut their latest songs. The memories of these nights of music and laughter are what inspired Laurie to perform her original music in this style. Join us in the beautifully decorated Heritage House with an aperitif by the fireplace, and enjoy a delicious, seasonally inspired meal amidst a backdrop of lights and music. Let this traditional Edwardian mansion capture your imagination, just in time for the holidays! Be sure to bring your slippers—these 113-year-old floors tend to get chilly.
Three-course meal includes: 1 glass of wine, Christmas salad, herb buns, beef Tourtière, carrots cooked in butter sauce, potatoes with herbed gremolata, tea, and Christmas spice cake with warm caramel sauce and whipped cream.
The evening will also include door-prize draws for two tickets to the 2024 Music at Mackie Summer Concert series and two tickets for a private tour of Mackie Lake Heritage House.
