The Bob Rogers Band
The Bob Rogers Band
Led by trombonist Bob Rogers, the Bob Rogers Band performs primarily original compositions by Bob, as well as tunes by Trombone Shorty, Maceo Parker and original takes of some favourite jazz standards. While they are most at home playing modern funk influenced jazz, the evening will feature a wide range of styles.
Originally from Vancouver, Bob now calls Vernon home. He has played for many years as a member of the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra, and has also played with and/or recorded for artists and groups including Natalie Cole, Aerosmith, The Temptations, the Bobby Hales Big Band, Fred Stride’s West Coast Jazz Orchestra, Hugh Fraser’s VEJI big band, the Victoria Symphony, Vancouver Opera and numerous small jazz and chamber groups. After retiring from teaching in Revelstoke in 2021 Bob has been an active member of the Okanagan musical community and and currently performs regularly in the Major Mambo latin quintet, the Slide Rule trombone quartet, the Gary Cable Project.
In addition to Bob on trombone and vocals, the Bob Rogers band also features Chris Petterson, sax, Jordan Dick, guitar, Colin Spence, keyboards, Shannon Sternloff, bass and Trevor Wallach, drums.

Karen Wiseman Quintet
Karen Wiseman Quintet
Karen Wiseman is a Vernon based jazz vocalist known for her velvety tone, attention to phrasing, and an inordinate love of the old standards. After a lifetime of singing in church choirs, choral ensembles and occasional theatre, it was a move to Vernon that jump-started her solo work. New musical friendships and local opportunities to sing in jazz ensembles have been the joyful result of settling here with her family.
Karen draws influences from voices like Peggy Lee or Julie London. Audiences can expect old swing classics, soulful ballads, Latin jazz, and re-imagined Broadway and pop tunes, all delivered with subtlety and elegant arrangements. Karen is also very fond of dusting off and sharing some of the lesser known gems in the jazz tradition.
Karen is joined by Jake McIntyre-Paul (bass), Chris Startup(sax), Neville Bowman(piano) and Will Friesen (drums).

David Francey
David Francey
The Vernon Folk Roots Music Society is excited to present David Francey. David Francey is a Scottish-born carpenter-turned-songwriter, who has become known as “one of Canada's most revered folk poets and singers” (Toronto Star).
David Francey is a Scottish-born Canadian carpenter-turned-songwriter. A truly authentic folk singer, David is a documentarian of the working person who never imagined earning a living from his music. But when he was in his 40s, his wife, artist Beth Girdler, encouraged him to share his songs and sing in public. The reaction was instant. His first album “Torn Screen Door” came out in 1999 and was a hit in Canada. Since then, he has released eleven albums, won three Juno Awards and has had his songs covered by such artists as The Del McCoury Band, The Rankin Family, James Keelaghan and Tracy Grammer.
