In anticipation of the return of our full SPOTLIGHT Season and subscription series for 2022-23 this Fall, the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Society (VDPAC), is once again offering up to three $1,000 bursaries as part of the Society’s annual Bursary Program for 2022.

Students from Vernon, Coldstream or Electoral Areas B or C who are entering into, or returning to full-time studies at a university, college, or technical school majoring in an accredited Performing Arts or Performing Arts Management program; and those students already registered in a recognized apprenticeship program in the Performing Arts or Performing Arts Management are invited to apply.

Applications must be received at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre by 5:00pm, Wednesday, September 14, 2022.

Each year, VDPAC makes available bursaries to promote and assist area students in their pursuit of post-secondary education and careers in the Performing Arts. Bursaries are traditionally made possible by the generosity of Performing Arts Centre patrons from POS tips and gratuities collected at VDPAC’s Coatcheck Gallery and bar & concession. The Society also accepts memorial gifts and business sponsorships (with naming opportunities) and personal donations specifically made for its Bursary Program. In 2021, the Society proceeded to award three $1,000 bursaries based on the remaining public donations and despite the absence of full public performances.

Public announcement of the 2022 Bursary recipients will be made “in early-October”. The Bursary Program is a key part of the Society’s ongoing “Youth Engagement Program” (YES), which also promotes summer student employment (3 positions available this summer), youth FOH and tech volunteers, student ‘community hours’ opportunities, a newly re-branded “Student RUSH: Live for Five” discount ticket program, and other special youth outreach activities over the year.
