Mainly focusing on works from Japan, he will touch on the well-known Ukiyo (which includes Hokusai and Hiroshige), but dive deeper into the 20th century Shin Hanga, Sosaku Hanga, & Meiji eras. Adrian will close the talk with a view of some of the woodblock prints from Vienna of the same time. What he lacks in academic art knowledge is made up in enthusiasm. Form and Figure – A Human Viewpoint

Vernon Community Arts Centre 2704A Highway 6, Vernon, British Columbia

“Form and Figure – A Human Viewpoint”, is an exhibit that seeks to offer a tasteful representation of the human figure and celebrate its beauty, diversity, and complexity. Our hope in offering this show was to provide an opportunity for artists to find creative ways to portray the human figure and for viewers to engage with works of art in a meaningful way.

From the realistic to the abstract, the human figure has intrigued and inspired artists throughout centuries and across cultures. It offers us insight into the range and intricacy of our emotions, and allows us to express beliefs, tell stories, and explore what it means to be human.

This show features several works from VCAC’s self-directed Life Drawing Classes, and a diverse selection of works from members of the Arts Council of the North Okanagan.
