Artist Talk with Scott Bertram

Join us on January 28th from 6-8 pm for a virtual artist talk with current exhibiting artist Scott Bertram.

Bertram is a Comox-based artist who works primarily in painting and his current exhibition titled "We Cannot Say It Is there, And Yet We Cannot Say It Isn’t", features large-scale abstract paintings. During the artist talk, Bertram will go through the development of his work over the last 10+ years leading up to his current exhibition at the VPAG. Endi Poskovic – OPT Artist Talk

The Vernon Public Art Gallery invites you to an Artist Talk with Endi Poskovic, a professor of Art at the University of Michigan. He obtained his BFA from the University of Sarajevo Academy of Fine Arts, he then went on to complete post-secondary studies in Norway. He holds his MFA from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He has exhibited worldwide, with far too many exhibitions to list, as well as having been the recipient of multiple notable awards and grants. His work featured in the OPT 2021 is from his “Dream Series” of work and features detailed hand-carved woodcuts. Victoria Bilogan – OPT Artist Talk

The Vernon Public Art Gallery invites you to an Artist Talk with Victoria Bilogan.

Victoria is an Australian artist who combines artistic practice with teaching at the University of Melbourne. She is engaged in printmaking, drawing, painting and book illustration. Her work has themes of isolation and destruction, and she finds inspiration from the collective subconscious. Join us on April 1st to hear more about her artistic practice and inspirations. Derek Besant – OPT Artist Talk

The Vernon Public Art Gallery invites you to an Artist Talk with Derek Besant.

Derek was born in Canada, and lives and works in Southern Alberta. He worked as the Exhibitions Designer for the opening of the Glenbow Museum, was a professor in Fine Arts at Alberta University of the Arts in Calgary. His early focus on Geophysics led to studies in Fine Arts.  Join us April 6th to hear more about Derek's current and upcoming artwork, processes, and inspirations.

Sevdalina Prodanova – OPT Artist Talk

The Vernon Public Art Gallery invites you to an Artist Talk with Sevdalina Prodanova 

Sevdalina Prodanova was born in Bulgaria, and graduated from the Academy of St. Kiril and Metod in Veliko Turnovo, Bulgaria. From 2015 – 2017 she worked as the curator at the Art Gallery in Burgas. She works in the field of graphics, graphic design, and monumental arts. Her work has themes of personal emotions, and she speaks of a strong connection to nature and things that we have not yet left our human footprint. Luke Johnson – OPT Artist Talk

The Vernon Public Art Gallery invites you to an Artist Talk with Luke Johnson!

Luke Johnson is an artist based out of Edmonton, Alberta. He works in print, photography, and durational engagements within collections. He received his BFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and his MFA from the University of Alberta, where he is currently a lecturer in lithography and drawing. His work has been shown throughout Canada and the USA, as well as international print exhibits in Armenia, Australia, Finland, Poland, and Portugal.

Yangbin Park – OPT Artist Talk

The Vernon Public Art Gallery invites you to an Artist Talk with Yangbin Park!

Yangbin Park received his BFA in Studio Art in 2011 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and his MFA in Printmaking in 2013 from Tyler School of Art and Architecture, Temple University. He has been actively involved in residencies and workshops internationally. He draws from a range of shared visual culture and socially-minded references including but not limited to personal narrative, historical events, local/global phenomena, and contemporary literature. Guy Langevin – OPT Artist Talk

The Vernon Public Art Gallery invites you to an Artist Talk with Guy Langevin!

Guy Langevin graduated from the Universite du Quebec a Trois-Riveres in 1977. He has exhibited his artwork in more than 60 solo exhibitions within Canada and internationally. He has participated in more than 400 group exhibitions throughout the world, including approximately 250 international biennials or juried exhibitions. His work presented in the Okanagan Print Triennial is part of his most recent body of work titled Paysage Ultime (Ultimate Landscape) which explores the idea that the human body could create a perfect landscape. Mark Bovey – OPT Artist Talk

The Vernon Public Art Gallery invites you to an Artist Talk with Mark Bovey!

Mark Bovey is an artist and Associate Professor in the Printmaking Area at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax Nova Scotia. His practice ranges from traditional printmaking to print installation works incorporating inkjet and digital video projections. His work on display in the Okanagan Print Triennial is from the series Movements Within and Between, which explores our human imperative to understand the natural world by extending perception through scientific invention made possible by telescopes, electron microscopes and the human imagination.

Nils-Erik Mattsson is an award-winning artist, who was born in Sweden. He is a graduate from the Valand Academy of Fine Arts, in Gothenburg. Midsummer’s Eve of the Arts – 35th Annual Auction

The 35th annual art auction event, Midsummer’s Eve of the Arts, will take place on Wednesday, July 21st, 2021. This year’s fundraiser will be a hybrid of live and virtual formats, allowing those who aren’t able to attend in person to still take part in the silent and live auctions! Due to the current health restriction, the Gallery will be limiting the number of in-person guests to under 100 people and the private event will take place on the rooftop patio of Nixon Wenger LLP.
