Fibre and Fotos, by Emily Fraser
Gallery Vertigo 102-3105 28th Ave, Vernon, British ColumbiaGallery Vertigo is proud to introduce M. Emily Fraser as their featured member for the month of February.
Emily has been a photographer all her life and encouraged to revel and wonder at all that can be found in the natural world. Colour, light, lines, shapes and all the interactions in nature fuel her wonder and delight. She loves capturing that wonder with her camera and ‘building’ art with fabric, fibre, paper, clay on their own or together. The patterns and texture found in our surroundings encourage simply “ messing about” with recycled and found fibre of all kinds. It has proven to be the perfect vehicle to create art that can suggest or representative scenes or simply inspire abstract creations.
Emily Fraser's work will be showing in Gallery Vertigo's Judith Jurica Gallery.
The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 4:00pm.

Rock, Paper, Scissors
Gallery Vertigo 102-3105 28th Ave, Vernon, British ColumbiaThe title, “Rock, Paper, Scissors” is a play on words referencing the work of both artists. “Rock” reflects the theme of Elijah’s recent work, featuring the likenesses of famous rock musicians, while “Paper” and “Scissors” refer to Jessica’s cut paper collage work."
"Studio B is Elijah Robertson and Jessica Durham, who share Studio B at Vertigo Gallery. Jessica currently works mostly in collage and clay, while Elijah is a painter working in acrylics with the use of mixed media and airbrush techniques. Their creative collaboration came into being against the background of global catastrophe, fostered in isolation. Ideas simmered together in an unconventional percolation brought forth a potent brew of pop culture and collage, steeped in historical and contemporary imagery. The project comes together in a confluence of passion for music, history, and straight-up silliness. An unbridled use of medium and materials create a truly unique viewing experience.
Showing May 3 to 28 in the Jurica Gallery. Gallery Hours are Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 4pm.

Pause in Plight
Gallery Vertigo 102-3105 28th Ave, Vernon, British ColumbiaGallery Vertigo, in partnership with the Sunflower Project, invites you to our newest exhibit, Pause in Plight— curated by Winnipeg Visual Artist Kerri Parnell in partnership with the Canadian First World War Internment Recognition Fund. The exhibition includes a series of artworks by Kerri Parnell that depict the internment of Ukrainian and Eastern Europeans in Canada during World War 1. One of the gravest forms of injustice is when victims cannot tell their story, when they are silenced by denial or indifference, when they are marginalized and pushed to the periphery of history. The aim is to inform the public of the WWI national security fears and wartime prejudices which led to the internment of 8,579 men, among them, women and children, identified as “enemy aliens”.
Pause in Plight is a touring exhibition making its way across Canada between 2020-2025 to help bring awareness to this historical injustice. This art show will engage and educate Okanagan citizens of the part the Okanagan played in this dark period in history.
Exhibit runs from June 3, 2022 to July 30, 2022 with an opening reception on Friday June 3, 2022. Gallery Hours are Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 4pm.
Admission by donation.
