Threads of Resilience – Workshop with Artist Evan Matchett-Wong – VDICSS Youth Group (age 13-19)

Featuring Evan Matchett-Wong, a Two-Spirit textile artist, this workshop will let local youth explore identities, discuss oppression, and embrace heritage through embroidery and textiles, promoting healing and celebration.

Evan Matchett-Wong is a textile artist hails from Treaty 6 Territory, with a strong focus on intersectional artistic practices, reflecting their mixed Chinese-Dene heritage and queerness. This embroidery/textile based workshop will give the opportunity for local youth to explore not only their unique identities and talk about their experiences of oppression but also give them the time to heal and celebrate their heritage.
