Bassist, composer, and bandleader Jesse Dietschi has earned praise from DownBeat Magazine, which hails him as a “virtuoso,” while The WholeNote describes him as a “musical contrabassist.” A versatile musician, he performs regularly as a freelance jazz bassist on both upright and electric, while also appearing as an extra section bassist with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Canadian Opera Company, and Mirvish musical theatre productions. These diverse influences shape the trio’s distinctive sound, which is showcased on their debut album, Gradient. Released in fall 2023, the album received widespread critical acclaim, including a 3½-star review in the December 2023 edition of DownBeat Magazine.
