Crit Club

May 16 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

Program Overview:

Crit Club at VPAG is a dynamic, hands-on program that invites high school students to engage in meaningful workshops and critique sessions with established professional artists. Each session is designed to provide valuable insights into the creative process while encouraging peer interaction, artistic growth, and self-expression.

How it Works:

Artistic Presentations: Each session kicks off with a presentation, offering a range of expertise in different mediums and techniques. Students will have the chance to learn about an array of artistic practices, challenges, and insights they can apply to their own work.

Workshop Sessions: Following the presentation, the guest artist will lead a hands-on workshop inspired by their own artistic practice. This provides students with an opportunity to explore new techniques and materials, or refine their current skills under the guidance of a professional.

Critique & Feedback: After completing their work, students are encouraged to share their art with the group for a constructive critique session. This feedback is designed to promote artistic dialogue, where students can gain new perspectives and refine their work based on the advice and critiques offered by their peers and the guest artist.

Exhibition Opportunity: Crit Club members also have the exciting opportunity to showcase their work in a professional exhibition at the Vernon Public Art Gallery. This exhibition serves as a culmination of their hard work, offering them a platform to display their art to the public and receive recognition for their creative efforts.
