The Vernon and District Garden Club aim of the club is to involve the members in as many various garden related activities, as they wish throughout the year. There are approximately sixty-five members at any one time who get together in eight general meetings, held monthly on the fourth Tuesday, February – June and September – November, at 7:30 p.m. in the Vernon Arts Centre, Polson Park. At each meeting there is a Parlour Show of members Floral Art, flowers and vegetables, short presentations by members on matters of interest and a talk by an invited speaker. Annual activities are a Plant Sale early May, a Flower Show late May, a picnic in July and Christmas Dinner in December. Tours and visits are organized to gardens, public and private, to nurseries and other places of horticultural interest. Courses are organized as needed, particularly in Floral Art, and assistance is given to the Landed Learning Program at the Vernon Science Centre.
