Spirit of the Lens: Exhibition at the Vernon Public Art Gallery @ Vernon Public Art Gallery

The Vernon Photography Club has an exhibit at the Vernon Public Art Gallery until 3 October 2018. Vernon Photography club is a group of active photographers with a wide range of focus and subject matter. The exhibition is juried by the members and the VPAG provides exhibition opportunities in a professional setting of a public gallery.

From murals depicting the world wars, to the beautiful pottery of Axel Ebring, the Okanagan Indian Band, cowboys and multiculturalism, over 28 different murals are found in the downtown core. These works of art created by a collaboration of artists depict the history, culture, scenery, and folklore that have made Vernon what it is today.

Tours leave from the steps of the Greater Vernon Museum & Archives (GVMA), 3009-32nd Ave., Tuesdays and Fridays at 9am, June 1st to September 28th. Limited to 20 per tour. Tickets can be purchased in advance at https://www.eventbrite.ca or at the door for $5.00 cash only please.

BREAKDOWN – The Ultimate Tom Petty Tribute @ Caetani Cultural Centre

Grab a friend and come down to the Caetani Cultural Centre for a special Summer Music Series event featuring BREAKDOWN: The Ultimate Tom Petty Tribute!

This is a ticketed event: Tickets are $25.00 for adults and $20.00 for students and seniors.

BREAKDOWN’s tribute show is being described as “the most accurate representation of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.” Covering all the hits from as early as 1976, BREAKDOWN re-creates the look and sound of a live Tom Petty performance. In a theater, club or on a festival stage, it’s always an exciting and energetic show.

Doors open at 6:30 pm and the show begins at 7:30 pm RAIN OR SHINE. A selection of refreshments will also be available for purchase.

Summer Music Series featuring Devon Coyote @ Caetani Cultural Centre

In a plastic and digital world it can be hard to find genuine, good music that speaks to a real audience. Devon Coyote’s timeless fusion of Roots, Rock and Blues does just that. Their shared passion for creating great music and a fierce determination to be heard, have led the boys to humble success in the Canadian Indie music scene.

The show begins at 2:00 pm RAIN OR SHINE and a selection of refreshments will be available for purchase. Admission is by donation ($10.00 recommended donation for adults, $5.00 for Caetani members and kids). Memberships will be available for purchase at the event. Proceeds go directly to the artists and toward programs and events at the Centre. Parking is not available at the Caetani Centre during events and patrons are asked to park off site in approved parking zones. Please respect our neighbours by not blocking driveways.
